People move to find places as others wait behind police lines in the Broadway and Chambers St area. Mounted police, Army Band, Naval contingent, Police Band and formations of other NYC police march in the parade under a shower of confetti and ticker-tape. An eager spectator hangs from his perch on a traffic light pole by a sign which reads, "No Parking.." HSs, spectators jostle each other to obtain a better view, some hold mirrors in the air to get a reflected view over the heads of the crowd. Row of majorettres and AF formation march past. The motorcade drive by. Crowd rushes to curb to watch.

General of the Army Douglas MacArthur (26 January 1880 – 5 April 1964) was an American five-star general and Field Marshal of the Philippine Army. He was Chief of Staff of the United States Army during the 1930s and played a prominent role in the Pacific theater during World War II. He received the Medal of Honor for his service in the Philippines campaign, which made him and his father Arthur MacArthur Jr. the first father and son to be awarded the medal.
